Guess who's admission just got accepted to join the Army?
Dead Ræn
Is that hard or something? I thought they were taking in all they could.
No offense or anything.
Pike
Since I only have my GED, I had to either:
Wait until a GED slot opened.
or
Get 15 college credit hours.

I'm assuming that either a GED slot opened, or my cousin pulled some strings to get me in.

I've been trying to join ever since I got my GED a little over a year ago.
Super Dave
Really? I have my GED, and I have been trying since at least last October to try to get in. Looks like I need to make a phone call or two.
Pike
Very.
Frost
Here in BR, you're forcible to join the army '-'
Like, if you have 2 arms and 2 legs, you MUST join for at least 2 years. ( in times of war, they take if you have 1 arm to hold the gun.)
Xero
That's what you get for living in a country called Battle Rifle.
Dead Ræn
Banana Republic?

lol

Battle Royale was awesome.
Battle Royale 2 sucked hard.

Are you going to try to get a useful job, or just be a meatshield?
Pike
Depends on my ASVAB score.

meatshields are integral to the success of any operation, including group photographs

I got something in the high 80s when I took it in high school. After that the Marine recruiter was up my ass for weeks. Is that high enough to go be an officer? Or do you still need to get a letter from your senator and all that bullshit?

What? Why are you staring at me?
I always thought it was normal to be forcible to join the army :(
Oh, and the salary is R$ 450,00.
With that, you can go twice per month to the market. :T

You need to start speaking American cause I have no idea what the hell you're saying.

On the serious, for anyone curious I googled it. BR is Brazil, R$ is Brazilian Real (Brazil's currency), and R$ 45,000 is roughly $25,700.

in brazil the economy is mostly driven by pickpockets in Rio Grande, which is so unfortunate because that's one of the prettiest places - and thus a common tourist destination

by the way, Frost, we can all understand you perfectly well, your english is just fine. david just has swelling on his brain stem and can't do thinking

Man, I lived for 6 years in Rio Grande. AHAHAHAH
And I still live in Rio Grande do Sul.
Believe, there's way more pickpockets in Rio de Janeiro.
Now wondering, why do we have so much cities with 'rio?'
Btw, Rio means river
PS: People don't fuck in public at carnival.

That's likely what he meant. He confused it with the river that created TexMex culture.

Tarrasque
believe it or not, a lot of spanish and portugese words are used here in America, and "rio" is one of them - in places with a lot of latin american immigrants, like Texas and California and Florida, most of the street and city names are in spanish.

a friend of mine spent three months somewhere in Brazil. he took capoeira classes while he was there. he said the best part about the trip was all the sightseeing; the worst part was either all the fire ants, or this one goddamn parrot. it kept attacking him and making loud noises during the day, it was so loud that he couldn't watch TV in peace. he got tired of the bird, so he caught it in a pillowcase, hung the pillowcase in a tree, and beat it with a stick.

fuck birds, man.

EDIT: yes mason i meant Janeiro. i knew it was one of the Rios.
Frost
Oh, just as I thought.
Well, the problem with Brazil, is that we have two Brazils.
Some months ago, in a trip with my girl, we were in a highway, and looking left, you could see a rich very rich and noble condominium.
Looking right, though, you could see a shantytown.
And it is that way all over Brazil, every single city.

Btw, I didn't know you use so many spanish words ^^ I should have wondered that, based on the fact you are so close with Mexico.
Xero
Mexico is gross. Thanks for not living there.
Also, I like your avvy/sig setup. I have a huge hardon for articuno.

Also, I've never been to mexico.

Joined the reserves, GED shit taking too long. Hello 2 weekends a month, 2 weeks a year. And a nice sign on bonus to boot.
Pike
I'm joining National Guard.

Taking to long to get the paperwork to go through, or taking too long to do? Because it's my understanding that that shit isn't hard at all.

I hear the Air Force is where its at.

As mentioned before, there was the option of waiting for a GED window to open, or to get 15 college credit hours. And since I work 40+ hours a week, school isn't really an option. Besides, after 3 years I can go to full active duty unless called to beforehand. It's not a bad gig. Get to keep my current job, too.

Super Dave
Going to MEPS tomorrow. Possibly a new job on Thursday. Updates to come, not that you assholes care.
Jasontheperson
Just remember that basic training is supposed to be one big mind fuck, and you'll be OK.
Super Dave
MEPS was easy. Got sworn in today. Say hello to the newest Sailor in the U.S. Navy. Active Duty, working in AECF (Advanced Electronics/Computer Field.)

Scored an 82 on my ASVAB. That was apparently enough for them to bypass the fact I had my GED and put me straight into Active Duty, rather than Reserves. Supposedly, I ship off for Boot Camp on the 10th of January, but my recruiter is calling in for roll-ups to see if we can get me gone as soon as this month.
Jacob
I considered joining the army shortly after highschool. Then I remembered I was a big pussy and couldn't handle the risk of getting KIA, so instead I'm racking up college classes and trying to figure out what to do for the next 20 years that won't drive me insane.
Jasontheperson
The closer I get to graduation, the less sure I am of my major. I've been giving some thought to a gubmint job that just requires a degree, but they don't care what it's in. This would mean sweet benefits, but also selling out.

One can only "sell out" if he is already moderately successful on artistic merit alone. Otherwise, it's called cashing in, and it's incredibly underrated.

Remember, everyone who receives a paycheck is a whore. No exceptions.
