would anyone like to test my game? I want to have more people take a look at it for bug reports & feedback before I start shopping it around. If you're from old times around here, let me know and I will send you a demo.

Would it be just a simple download or something else that would be needed?
Max
It's just an exe, no install. Windows only.

Well I have been here since 06 if that is what you might consider an old timer, and I would love to try out the demo if you don't mind.

Oh if you need an email:

FOCookie@live.com

Or flippedoutcookie@gmail.com

I might be able to sometime this week. Sounds like it should be fun. As a matter of fact, I think I still have a really really old demo lying around somewhere.

I've got Vista on an AMD Phenom II x4 3.2GHz, and an Nvidia GTS250.

If you need any playtesting done, you can find me on AIM pretty much 24/7.

Max, I work night shift at a hotel. Which is almost entirely comprised of sitting at a desk, in front of a computer playing Monster Hunter and watching The Colbert Report for eight hours. Bring it on.

Max
i sent you all demos, thanks for volunteering

what's monster hunter?

A hack and slash game for PSP. The name is pretty self explanitory. It's a good time waster.
Oh, and would you mind sending it again? My Gmail decided that you were spam and I didn't see it till' after I had hit the Delete all spam button.

Max
who's got a mac and can test something for me real quick
Sebastian
I have a powerpc macmini, will that help? (but if you need something that requires it to be hooked to internet, nevermind (I just transfer everything to it via flash drive))
Max
any mac, with internet.

also, a general update. The feedback I've gotten on the game has mostly been either:

- it's impenetrably difficult. or,
- it's very good, but too short for its difficulty curve.

I do think it's too complicated, but too late to fix that, so I'm working on a little more content for anybody who enjoys it. A survival mode where you fight until you die, with two new maps. I kind of regret starting on this because actually I'm incredibly sick of working on this game and probably not much people will want to play it anyway, but whatever. So that's why it isn't done yet, couple more weekends and I'm there. It will be released as a browser game.
Lunchbox
I didn't think it was that difficult. The only trouble I had was aiming with my laptop's touchpad, and sometimes teleporting to -just- the right spot.
Xero
macfag here
Pike
It took me forever to find out how to backstab somebody the right way.
I kept thinking I had to be RIGHT behind them.
David
I HAEV A MAC! QUIKLY!
Max
Super Dave
Beautiful.

If I had anything hand held, would totally pay for this as a game. That level looks fun as shit
Corzan
could you send me a demo, just because i love this game so much and i joined just to get this demo?

Wow, this looks great. Boss battles seem like they'd be insane for this game.

If you want, i can test it too.

I would be absolutely ecstatic if I could test it as well.

Max
hi, so I'm not taking more testers right now cause the game's done, I just have a few things to do for the sponsor before it can go online, so it will be available really soon.
Pike
Ballin'.
Max
it's done
Dead Ræn
Awesome, I love it. It's a little hard to differentiate the walls and where you can be seen and where you can't, but it is a lot of fun.
I'm so happy for you, Max.
Reezer
Will it be downloadable? Caus my internet is really slow.
Max
Some people reported a bug where the jump and knife buttons don't work for them. If anyone has that problem please let me know, I want to fix the issue but I can't reproduce the bug so I need some help testing.

Maybe eventually it will be downloadable! I could make it use the right-mouse button then, that would be nice.
Dead Ræn
The knife didn't work for me a few times, when trying to kill someone from below (south) them. I've never had the jump button not work.

+ on level 23, the one with the map layout resembling a pound sign, you accidentally hired a Marsh deli worker with some kind of sound-activated autism:

any tapping noise which gets his attention will cause him to stop circling the sniper and consult the Response Procedure Handbook's chapter on how to deal with snakes speaking in Morse code

evidently it's one hell of a read, because for the remainder of your visit to that grid, he never takes his eyes off it even if you look over his shoulder

+ key to solving level 9: hold right, hold down, hit shift (in that order)

+ if it's possible to get Master rank on Boss 1, it will probably involve convincing the endlessly respawning mooks to engage in friendly fire - which doesn't actually take much convincing at all

also hey max, if you really love me you'll make alt + R a Restart Level shortcut pretty please sir
Dead Ræn
Knifing at an enemy north is confirmed to not work.
It's also a little hard to tell where the exit is - there's no clear indicator. On level 9 I thought I had to get to the opposite wall, not just south.
It's pretty clear that the focus is on stealth, if that weren't blatantly obvious enough from the title, but getting into a fight pretty much signs your death warrant, especially with the outstandingly-unreliable pistol. While having a bad weapon to encourage stealth is all good and fine in the normal levels, it makes forced fights extremely difficult.
I'd also point out that having infinitely-respawning enemies is a gaming sin and Creeping is going to hell for it, but it's still modestly appropriate. Sometimes.
Tarrasque
oh i got my pretty blue ass handed to me about a thousand times, i refuse to fire a single shot and i go solely for THE MASTER RANK FANTASTIQUE

which is why i so desire a convenient one-stroke key for OOPS I DIDN'T TIME THAT TELEPORT CORRECTLY
Max
yeah, there's a bunch of problems w/ this game. I think it gets by on looking good and being different, but it has deep design flaws & by most accounts the learning curve is too brutal so people don't reach the real depth. When I say the design flaws are deep, I mean that if you consider the totally valid & obvious issues that people bring up and try to think of ways to fix it, you won't come up with an obvious solution, or anyway one that doesn't involve rebuilding the game from the inside out. So while I think it's fun and I hope people will see that there are ideas and be interested in them, I also think it suggests a better game that could be but that I wasn't able to make this time around.

T: bosses can't be stealthed, those levels are un-ranked. Although moose told me he was able to kill them by friendly fire. But if you play stealthy from the very beginning & the bosses just won't appear. This was a cop-out, I should have had a way to sneak around them.

Thank you! haha
Awesome game, trying to master it all.
24/25 expert, and 16/25 master.
I couldn't expert the level that comes after the one you mentioned.
I see a way, but it's too hard, if anyone can help...
That freaky sniper bastard sees all the world from up there ¬¬'

Congratulations man, it's awesome, it's fun, and it's hard!
Max
Hi frost, here's a tip. on that level stay close to the walls and use teleport, & remember you can teleport diagonally

Welcome to the boards and all, Frost, but... Avril? Really? The fuck?
Frost
The OLD avril smile.gif
I was listening to 'complicated', one of her old songs that still had reasonable lyrics.
New avril is a bi***, for me Avril is as alive as Michael Jackson biggrin.gif
I still like her old songs though.
Pike
Frost seems to be the nicest user that has ever joined Flecko.
Super Dave
Guys, are we broken?
Pike
Nah, we can fix it.
